Burnaby is an outstanding place to call home, whatever home looks like for you. We’ve balanced density with maintaining diverse neighbourhoods and housing options. And with 19,000 rental units in development, we’re building to address growth and affordability.
What a Great Place to Be
Find out why – and how we’re making Burnaby even better.
How do you like to get around? Whether it’s by car, by SkyTrain or other transit options, or by cycling and other active modes – moving around Burnaby is quick and convenient. We’re continually investing in our transportation network and in better community connectivity.
Our already strong network of playgrounds, community centres and other recreational opportunities is getting even better to keep up with the needs of growing communities. Be sure to check out new facilities at both Burnaby Lake and in the Cameron neighbourhood in 2028.
Fully a quarter of Burnaby’s land base is made up of green space – that’s an area six-times bigger than Stanley Park. So whether it’s that hidden gem of a neighbourhood park, or a popular regional destination like Burnaby Mountain, you’ll be in touch with nature here.
Burnaby is highly diverse and strongly committed to meeting the needs of all its diverse residents. From some of the strongest rental protections in Canada to compassionate responses to homeless residents, we want everyone to be able to find the support they need here.
Burnaby is home to some of the biggest and best festivals in the region – and they’re mostly free. Along with smaller community events these are chances to celebrate, to enjoy the arts and other activities, and to be with friends and neighbours old and new.

We respectfully acknowledge that the City of Burnaby is located on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Peoples. Each Nation has distinct histories and distinct traditional territories that fully or partially encompass the city.
We encourage you to learn more about the Host Nations whose ancestors have occupied and used these lands, including parts of present-day Burnaby, for thousands of years.
